Me and the Kiwi<\/b> is the story of an unexpected detour that became the destination. We met on a plane, jumped in a truck two weeks later, and six years on, we\u2019re still choosing the road. Between Chris Burrows\u2019 life as a helicopter pilot in the wilds of Alaska and my world as an author and screenwriter, we\u2019ve built a partnership rooted in a relentless spirit of adventure.<\/p>\n

This year, our journey enters its biggest chapter yet: reuniting to drive from Alaska to Argentina in a ’73 VW Bus named Buster.<\/b><\/p>\n

Between the deep work of screenwriting and the high-altitude clarity of the trail, I\u2019m celebrating the launch of my book, Shelter in Motion<\/i>, and the simple, profound magic of a life lived outdoors.<\/p>\n

The Writer.<\/b> I\u2019m an award-winning author and screenwriter with a penchant for stories lived along the edges. My upcoming book, Shelter in Motion<\/i><\/b>, launches April 15th, and I\u2019m currently adapting my work for the screen through the Sundance Film Collaboration. Recently awarded a scholarship to the Colgate Writers Conference, I\u2019ll be heading to New York this June to workshop a screenplay adaptation of my work under the mentorship of playwright Kyle Bass. Between penning scripts and practicing yoga at the trailhead, I\u2019m proving that home isn\u2019t a fixed point\u2014it\u2019s a creative practice.<\/p>\n

The Kiwi.<\/b> He\u2019s a helicopter pilot from New Zealand\u2014my partner, my biggest supporter, and the reason this nomadic life takes flight. Chris bought us Buster<\/b> so we could bridge the gap between his seasonal cockpit and my writing desk. Yeah, he\u2019s definitely a keeper.<\/p>\n

The Journey<\/b> From an airplane seat to a truck cab to a sailboat to a 1973 Sumatra Green Westfalia\u2014we are living proof that shelter isn’t always a building. Sometimes it\u2019s a person. Sometimes it\u2019s a 53-year-old engine.
